Pairing your iPhone with the studio
Show six digits in the studio, give them to the app, and the phone holds its own key for that studio.
Pairing links your iPhone to your studio once. The studio shows six digits and a QR code, you give them to the app, and from then on the phone holds a key of its own for that studio. A phone that was never paired gets no answer from the studio at all.
There is no AigoPilot account in this and no server in between. At home the phone finds your computer on the home network and talks to it directly.
Partly built. The six digits work. Reading the QR code was tested the way a camera reads it, and the link inside it paired a phone in the simulator, but it has not been seen with a real camera yet.
Show the digits in the studio
The computer must be on, with the studio running, and on the same network as the phone.
- Click the gear in the top bar of the studio.
- Click Computers. The window The computers of this studio opens.
- Scroll down to The phones of this studio.
- Click Pair a phone.
The studio shows a QR code and six large digits, with a line that counts down how long they work. It is a few minutes. The first time, Windows asks whether AigoPilot may use the network. Allow private networks only.
Enter them on the phone
Open AigoPilot on the iPhone. The first screen is Pair with your studio, and there are two ways in.
- Tap Read the studio's QR code and hold the camera over the code in the studio. That is all.
- Or tap your computer under Found on this network, type the six digits into the field Six digits, and tap Pair.
If the computer is not in the list, write its address by hand under Or write the address yourself. The studio prints that address under the digits, in the form 192.168.1.20:47616. The studio counts wrong tries beside the digits.
When the pairing works, the app opens on Projects, with the projects of your studio and the computer each one is on. If you have no studio yet, Try a sample studio at the bottom of the first screen lets you look around a made-up one. Nothing runs in it.
What pairing changes on your computer
From the first paired phone, the studio starts with Windows, so that the phone can reach it while the window is closed. A tick under the list, Start AigoPilot when this computer starts, so the phone always reaches it, turns that off. Without it the phone works only while the studio is running.
Each paired phone is listed in the same window, marked connected now or with the time it was last there. To end a pairing, click Forget beside the phone. It then cannot reach the studio until it is paired again. On the phone, the tab Studio has Forget this studio for the other direction.
Pairing works at home. To use the phone from another network, read Using the iPhone app away from home. For what the app does after pairing, see The iPhone app: what it does.
Small tips
Hide the digits once the phone is paired
The button Hide the digits closes the code at once instead of leaving it on screen until it times out. Do it if someone else can see your monitor.
