Setting up a Mac as an agent
Make a Mac one of the computers of your studio, with nothing typed in a terminal.
To work on a Mac from your Windows PC, you put a small program on the Mac, AigoPilot Agent, and pair it with your studio. The Mac then becomes one of the computers of the studio: its projects and sessions show up in your list, and you run Claude Code, Codex or Grok there while you sit at the PC. The Mac needs macOS 11 or later.
Download AigoPilot Agent for Mac (a disk image, AigoPilot-Agent.dmg). It is signed with the company's Developer ID and notarized by Apple. The agent does nothing by itself: it works once a studio with a licence pairs with it.
Install the agent on the Mac
- Download the disk image, open
AigoPilot-Agent.dmgand move AigoPilot Agent into your Applications folder. - Open it. macOS asks the usual question about an app from the internet. The app is signed by Doment Digital FZE LLC and notarized by Apple, so it opens after you say yes.
- When macOS asks whether the app may find devices on your local network, allow it. That is how your studio finds the Mac.
A small window opens, titled with the build and AigoPilot Agent. It shows the computer's name, the line Ready. A studio on this network can find this computer., and a sign appears in the menu bar. Closing the window does not stop the agent. To stop it, use Quit the agent.
Leave Start when I sign in to this computer ticked, so that the Mac comes back after a restart. Without it, the Mac cannot be reached until you open the agent again.
Pair it with the studio
- In the agent's window, click Show six digits.
- On your Windows PC, open Settings, then Computers. Under Add a computer, click the Mac when it appears in the row of found computers.
- Type the six digits and click Add.
The digits work for five minutes and for one pairing. After three wrong tries they change. If the Mac is not in the list because it is on another network, type the code the agent shows under its digits in place of the address; see Reaching your computers from another network. The whole exchange is explained in Pairing two computers with six digits.
Let the studio install the AI tools
Once the Mac is paired, its row in the Computers window lists Claude Code, Codex and Grok and says which are missing. Click Install, read what will be installed and from where, and say yes. The studio uses each maker's own installer and puts the program into your user folder on the Mac, without an administrator. Signing in is yours to do, on the Mac. All of this is in Installing Claude Code and Codex on another computer.
Updates
The agent looks for a newer build on aigopilot.com about once a day. When no session is working on the Mac, it downloads the build, checks it, and starts again as the new version. Click Check for updates in its window to look at once. The window shows which build is running, and the studio's row shows it too.
What is different on a Mac
- The studio window runs on Windows only. The Mac is a computer you reach, not one you open the studio on.
- Workers: only pm2 programs are listed for now.
- The graphics card of the Mac is shown as unknown. macOS gives each program's share only to an administrator, and the studio never works as one.
- A Mac with its lid closed sleeps, whatever the studio asks. Keep the lid open for long work. See Staying awake, starting with Windows, tray and backups.
- Installing tools a project names (Node.js, Docker and the like) is not built for a Mac. The studio names what is missing.
To remove the agent: switch off Start when I sign in to this computer, choose Quit the agent, and move the app from Applications to the Trash. The support page lists the folders to delete if you also want its data gone.
Small tips
Press Check for updates in the agent window
The agent looks for a newer build about once a day by itself. Click Check for updates in its window to look at once; the window then shows which build is running.
Keep the start tick on
Start when I sign in to this computer decides whether the agent comes back after a restart. Without it, the Mac cannot be reached until you open the agent again.
Questions
Which macOS does the agent need?
macOS 11 or later. The app is signed by Doment Digital FZE LLC and notarized by Apple.
Why does macOS ask about my local network?
That is how your studio finds the Mac by name. If you said no, switch AigoPilot Agent on under System Settings, Privacy and Security, Local Network, or pair with the code under the six digits.
